![]() Since this is a better-designed device than its industrial-looking competitors, you’ll have no problem positioning it anywhere in the room (especially because of the front LCD display), but, be aware that the CP1500PFCLCD is not really a compact UPS, its dimensions being 14.2 x 3.9 x 10.4 inches (the same as the less powerful CP1350PFCLCD) and it is reasonably heavy (it weighs 24.7lbs). The cooling fan will turn on once the system uses the backup battery and, during the operation time, you will definitely be able to hear it (it’s not loud, but it is noticeable) and the noise should last until the battery is no longer needed. On both the right and left side, there are two narrow horizontal vent grills and one vertical, which, along with the cooling fan should ensure that the unit remains cool under any circumstances (be careful not to obstruct the vent grills). Additionally, you can have a look at the CP1350AVRLCD, a less expensive, but capable uninterruptible power supply that also features a simulated sine wave output and was suitable for a large array of electronic devices.Īs expected, the CP1500PFCLCD is an elegant device, featuring a mini-tower case, with rounded corners and covered by a matte finish all around, except for the front and top, where there are some glossy pieces of plastic embedded inside the case (from the front, the glossy finish continues along the bottom side towards the rear of the UPS). Of course, there are some expensive uninterruptible power supplies that will do the trick but you don’t necessarily need to break the bank to keep your computer protected because the line-interactive CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD is able to offer the necessary protection. Some devices are known to not work well or to be completely incompatible with a simulated sine wave UPS (such as sensitive audio or medical units), but, recently, people have also experienced some problems with computer power supplies that require an active PFC power source compatibility. CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD ReviewĬyberPower Systems is a well-known USA-based manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies, surge protectors and other backup power solutions, with some of its more popular products being the affordable line-interactive UPS devices. That’s why it’s important to verify the power consumption of your equipment prior of purchasing (it can be done by using any inexpensive electricity usage monitor, like the cheap Kill-A-Watt. Important note: Before purchasing any uninterruptible power supply (UPS), you need to make sure that it can handle your devices. CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD vs Eaton Electrical 5P750RC vs Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT vs APC BX1500M – Performance ![]() That’s why UPS manufacturers pride themselves with lots of additional minutes or even hours (depending on the power consumption), so you don’t have to worry about power outages and have enough time to save all your work before performing a safe shut-down of your computer. Some people only use surge protectors as a way to protect their computers and other type of electric devices, but, unlike an UPS, you can’t prevent data loss in case of blackouts or brownouts (also, they are useless against low voltage, which can do some serious damage). If you’re unsure about what UPS should you purchase in order to have your devices safe and protected, I have compiled a list of the best uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to help you make the best decision (mainly addressing the line-interactive UPS). Most electronic devices should work fine with an UPS that has a simulated sine wave output, but, the more sensitive equipment may not play nice with anything less than a clean, close-to-ideal sine wave UPS (a common scenario for some sensitive audio devices or medical equipment – Active PFC power supplies can work with a good line-interactive UPS). Based on the technology that’s used, we have offline UPS devices (also known as standby uninterruptible power supplies), line-interactive UPS devices (the more commonly used type of UPS in households and smaller offices, since these are more reasonably priced) and lastly, the online (double-conversion) uninterruptible power supplies which work very well with sensitive electronic equipment – usually found in the medical industry, laboratories. The uninterruptible power supplies come in various shapes and sizes, but the main differentiating factor remains the topology. ![]() Even of you use it as just the keypad you will have to change batteries often even with little use as mine is with me away. ![]() We toured a lot for that record, came back, and then we had six months to make another one. We were coming off of our first album, Mental Jewelry, which did really well. When you think back on Throwing Copper, what memories come to mind? What was that time like for the band? So we mentioned it to them, and they were super excited about it. With both records coming out the same year, we thought it would be a great idea. ![]() We thought about Bush, who had Sixteen Stone that year. Then, mid-last year, we were just saying it would be cool to find another band doing an anniversary like that. How long was this tour in the making? Did you always know you’d do a big tour when Throwing Copper turned 25? We can’t wait to get out and get rolling.” We struck a nice balance over the last couple of years, so that when we get back together, we’re excited. We love to tour, but it is intense, and you spend a lot of time away from home. “We toured so much last year, that it was great to decompress and work on new music and nurture that space,” says Ed. When we speak to Ed, he’s taking his time to savor the simple life at home, while at the same time chomping at the bit to get this show on the road. The band are heading out on the road with Bush, whose classic album Sixteen Stone also turns 25 this year. We’re not a light band, but we definitely aren’t a heavy one, so it’s nice to see people like him enjoying our music.”įor Live, Throwing Copper’s 25th birthday also means the start of a sizable tour. I would’ve never have expected he would be such a huge fan. I became friends with Corey Taylor when he was doing his acoustic tour, and sang his own beautiful version of Lightning Crashes. One of the cool things is the connections. It’s been twenty-five year, and it never gets old. “It’s funny, Chad Taylor shared a post with me on Instagram of this guy all the way in Jakarta, Indonesia, with his guitar, singing Lightning Crashes and just rocking it out. “People do that to me all the time in bars,” says Ed with a laugh. Chances are, if you mention Lightning Crashes in a room full of people, a handful of them will know every word of it, and will immediately sing it back to you in Ed Kowalczyk’s rust-belt warble. The record’s four huge singles - I Alone, All Over You, Selling The Drama, and the unstoppably memorable Lightning Crashes - were ever-present on any rock station across the globe after that, perfect grassfed alternatives for fans who found Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins a little too acerbic. The sophomore album by the York, Pennsylvania, alt-rock quartet dropped in 1994 and hit American radio like a tidal wave, walking a perfect line between soulful and tough. As always, leave your thoughts on the song or review below. For children of the Nineties, Live’s Throwing Copper was inescapable. It’s a song that has heart, emotion, and a message to think about. It takes guts to write a song like this, and especially to count on it to be successful. He really puts all his feelings into his voice and his songwriting is really something else. The focus of the song is really Kowalczyk’s singing. it brings the song full circle, like life and death. The song finishes with the chorus being repeated again, and eventually it ends as it began with soft guitar chords. The chords and drums pick up and the song really gets moving. The mood still feels a bit dark, but there’s a glimmer of light at the end, and that’s what this song is about. The guitars and now drums pick up the tempo and make the song less somber and actually more joyful in a way. The words in the chorus really connect the principles he’s trying to get across, in the sense that we’re all tied to the earth and that we constantly give our lives to the future: “Forces pulling from the center of the Earth again.”Īs the song continues, Kowalczyk only gets more powerful with his voice, and begins really singing with all his conviction. You can tell he means every note and word that he sings. Kowalczyk’s voice is emotive and powerful, and you can hear every waver and imperfection, but somehow it’s more real because of them. The chorus comes next, and it’s gorgeous. The pace of the guitar is slow, giving you a chance to really focus on Kowalczyk’s words. It’s all very moving and also beautiful to hear lyrics like this. However, the second verse deals with the opposite side, as an old woman dies, and passes her life onto the newborn child. In the first verse, he speaks of a young mother giving birth to her child, which is an obviously joyous moment. It’s definitely a somber opening, as singer Ed Kowalczyk whispers the first two verses in hushed tones. The song begins with a very soft guitar riff, which continues for the duration of the verses. It approaches the concepts of life and death in ways not many songs do. It makes you think about ideas or points of view that we don’t usually think about. Once in a while, a song comes along that really touches you. |
